The department consists of a manager, three administrators, and a programmer/analyst. It is the manager's responsibility to coordinate, supervise, and manage the IS support efforts for all departments of the municipality. As an integral member of the Town's management team, he provides technical planning, budgeting, and direction on all aspects of technology, communication and security issues. The manager reports to the Town Manager.

The manager of the department directly oversees the network infrastructure which consists of Cisco switches and routers interconnected via a Gigabit backbone. He also manages the telephone system that services Town Hall and all other locations.

The administrator's role is to maintain over 300 secure networked computers in nineteen different buildings. This includes set up, periodic upgrades, troubleshooting and virus upgrades. Other responsibilities include maintaining a comprehensive inventory of equipment, maintenance and organizing of shared files, hardware and software instruction for staff.
